Abstract

This research investigates effective design strategies to enhance color perception among individuals with color blindness, a condition impacting approximately 350 million people worldwide, roughly 8% of men and 0.5% of women. This prevalence underscores the need for developing products that cater specifically to their requirements. The primary objective of the study is to examine the potential for setting a strategy for designing commonly used products that facilitate the user experience for those with color blindness and improve their ability to perceive colors.

The research aims to identify how to design products that fulfill the needs of individuals with color blindness, focusing on putting innovative design strategies that ensure an improved visual and interactive experience. The methodology is based on a descriptive experimental analysis, which includes a review of prior studies and successful case studies, alongside the collection of qualitative and quantitative data from product designers and users through surveys, as well as conducting a research experiment to verify the research hypothesis.

The research results indicate that 50% of designers possess only a superficial understanding of color blindness, with merely 13% employing effective testing tools, highlighting an urgent need to enhance awareness among designers. Additionally, the experiments revealed that incorporating alternative symbols and high-contrast designs significantly improves color perception.
