Activating SCAMPER method for developing creative thinking in industrial design

Abstract

Today, the industrial design faces a real challenge represented in the necessity to raise its
creative and innovative ability, except that we still have a lack in the programs with
innovative trend, also Not taking advantage of the innovative energies of the industrial
designer through which it is possible to create attractive and unique innovative designs that
achieve competitive advantage locally, regionally and globally.
By studying the types of creative thinking and its characteristics, motivations and skills. One
of the methods that have a vital role in developing creative thinking is the SCAMPER
method, which is simply a method/strategy for generating ideas, as it works to create ideas
for new products and services by offering seven different types of methods, that contains a set
of questions, which help you understand how to innovate and develop products, services,
problems and current ideas. The research problem is summarized in asking questions about
what is the potential of this method in developing creative thinking? And how could it be
reflected in the industrial design and the industrial designer?
The importance of this research emphasizes on observing the positive aspects of using the
SCAMPER method for developing creative thinking and problem-solving methods in the
field of industrial design.
From this, the research aims to reveal and clarify the importance of activating the role of
SCAMPER as one of the methods of developing creative thinking and as a tool for generating
new ideas as a basis for teaching them in industrial design. The research followed a
descriptive analytical approach
The results came to the form of the SCAMPER strategy as one of the creative thinking
methods and to put the Considerations of the SCAMPER method as its used in industrial
design, with the recommendation to Aware responsibles of teaching industrial design of the
importance of continuous knowledge of modern methods & patterns of creative thinking,
their developments in solving problems, how to use them in product development Systems,
services and the development of innovative skills of the industrial designer.
