Abstract:
The loop length in tuck stitch is one of the most important factors that affect the natural and mechanical properties of outerwear fabrics produced by flat knitting machine. Therefore, the problem of the research lies in knowing the effect of the difference in the length of the loop in the tuck stitch on the natural and mechanical properties of outerwear fabrics produced by flat knitting machine. The research follows the experimental method and the analytical method, and the research hypothesizes the existence of a relationship between the difference in the loop length in the tuck stitch and the natural and mechanical properties of outerwear fabrics, and the existence of a relationship between the loop length in the tuck stitch and the needle arrangement system (horizontal tuck), and also the existence of a relationship between the loop length in the  tuck stitch and the number of lines of the tuck stitch (vertical hanging), and then the research aims to study the loop length in the tuck stitch, and to study the effect of the difference in the loop length in the tuck stitch on some of the natural and mechanical properties of the outerwear fabrics produced. ten samples were carried out on flat knitting machine. Gauge 12 with the use of acrylic thread, thread number (14/1). When designing the experiments, it was taken into account that the samples should be in one color (white) and without any preparation, so that the main variable is the type of stitch, as the (tuck stitch) was used on the rib structure (1/1), where the main sample used as a measure of the samples was carried out, and nine horizontal tuck samples were carried out as follows: three samples of the arrangement of the needles in the front needle-bed: a knit stitch needle and a tuck stitch needle, and three samples of the arrangement of the needles in the front needle- bed: two knit stitch needles and two tuck stitch needles. And three samples of the arrangement of the needles in the front needle-bed: all needles are a tuck stitch (whereas the arrangement of the needles in the back needle- bed: all the needles are a knit stitch). three samples of vertical tuck were performed for each of these types, where tuck stitch 1line and tuck stitch two lines and tuck stitch three lines were performed. for each type. This research presents the operational specifications for the samples produced by the research, as well as the laboratory tests that were conducted on the samples to estimate the natural and mechanical properties and statistical analysis of the results of these tests to determine the effect of each variable in the research on the efficiency of the functional performance of the fabrics produced. The research found that there is an effect of the loob length in the tuck stitch on the natural and mechanical properties of outerwear fabrics produced by flat knitting machine.
