Abstract

Abstract:
The ability of universities to achieve their purposes and fulfill their mission to build the
society depends on their success in performing multiple functions which presented in three
main aspects: knowledge transferring through teaching, production through scientific
research, and activating these two functions in the community and the environment service.
One of the main justifications which concerning to the third job (community service) is what
witnessed in the world today of global challenges and variables on all scientific, economic,
social and cultural levels, and university is one of the most important educational institutions
in any society which affects and is affected with social environment..it is the neonate of
society and its tool in rehabilitation of leaderships on All technical , political, professional
and intellectual levels.
This has led to withdrawal the University from its isolation and ivory towers and open its
doors to the community, because when the university cut off from society and losses abandon
attitude of consciousness, including which and who around, its knowledge becomes confluent
and not linked to the movement of the evolving life , the science loses its social value and
even cognitive as well, and thus Education inseparable for needs and events of the society.
Damietta distinguished with a tremendous amount of development in furniture industry,
where the furniture industry is mainly concentrated in Egypt at Damietta Lower Egypt, as it
produces nearly two-thirds of the wooden furniture production in Egypt with quality and high
taste, and also there is the Faculty of Applied Arts which seeks to prepare an appropriate
graduate of the furniture market.
There are many cities that represent the weight centers around the world, which resemble
the city of Damietta , one of these cities is high Point city in North Carolina state, (the capital
of home furnishings in the world), and home to the University of high-Point, which is leading
the development movement, where it has a wonderful Furniture program.
So it can benefit from the experience of the University of high-Point, North Carolina in the
development of furniture industry in Damietta and increase competitiveness in the global
markets, the furniture industry has played a key role in North Carolina's economy since the
seventeenth century, when craftsmen British began to settle in the state of North Carolina,
and produced furniture on a small scale, also focused developers and owners of industrial
projects on Piedmont area in the state of North Carolina, and especially the city of High Point.
The abundant wood supplies, in addition to available transportation and communication
facilities, and the cheap cost labor and hosting High Point City for the first regional trade fair
of furniture in 1909 ultimately led to the creation of High Point market, which is known as a
world-renowned commercial furniture that is persisted even today.
By the 1980 High Point Market won the title of the capital of furniture in the world, where
it come to about 75,000 visitors and vendors from100 countries, and more than 2000
exhibitions that display their products in an area of 11.5 million square feet at about 180
building, as it is a global gathering of workers in Furniture Industry
